LONG BIO

Myshkin’s Ruby Warblers is a casually sophisticated, original folk/jazz band led by Myshkin, an endlessly curious, New Orleans schooled singer/songwriter/guitarist, and Jenny Q, a one of a kind cellist and harmony singer. Myshkin is known for her rich, subtle alto voice, complex melodies, and filmic lyrics slyly asking big questions. She has been writing, recording, touring and collaborating internationally since 1993. Her fifth record Rosebud Bullets—a riot of Jazz, Folk, Rock, Chanteuse and Middle Eastern ideas spun into a torch-punk tone poem—introduced her band Ruby Warblers, and defined her voice. A decade in New Orleans gave the band deep swing, Portland added beats and loops. In Joshua Tree Myshkin released her tenth record, and produced a series of politically potent performance pieces incorporating film, spoken word, circus and theatre. Myshkin and Jenny were called to Scotland, and immigrated in 2023 on a global talent visa. The Ruby Warblers bring an energetic, eclectic, poetic, gorgeous show that builds beauty out of some hard spaces, reaching far beneath the surface while being both provocative and charming.
